How special to be married in your grandmother’s garden (Steph) where your parents were also married, have dinner at and dancing two doors down in your parents back yard (Max) – and have your wedding photos taken on a wild piece of land bursting with indigenous trees and grasses, just two blocks from it all! Steph and Max’s families came together in spirit – and geographically!) to pull off a beautiful homegrown Bulawayo wedding – complete with bridal prep in a golden oldie Suburbs home – (yay for “broekielace”, oregon pine floors and those famous Bulawayo crazy-high ceilings).
The day before Steph and Max’s wedding I went scouting for photo spots and managed to find a beautiful clearing in the middle of the bush which I think is used as an outside natural church on weekends. The spot was just so sweet and perfect – with so much soul. After spending some time here we spluttered along in the landcover to the next door golf course where there was time for a waltz in the dusk and some mindful breaths of the crisp Bulawayo autumn, and then it was back to the merry cheer of the evening part of the celebrations. And oh was it festive! Fairy lights to make your heart twinkle, beautiful speeches – lots of laughs, lots of tears, a picture-perfect first dance and a roaring Hora complete with sparklers. Everyone jam packed the dance floor from the second it opened and judging from the spirit of things when I left – one massive party ensued.
Thanks Steph and Max for trusting me with documenting your beautiful wedding day – I so enjoyed it and I hope these photos capture the magic! Xx
