People… what was most important to these two was that they got to spend quality time with their people.

From prep to party time and all the moments in-between, Jordyn and Greg made sure that they got to enjoy their friends and family on their wedding day. For me as a photographer,  this means lots of lovely chances to focus on natural candid moments between people (my favourite!) – and for the couple – it ultimately means slowing down enough to actually be present and absorb a lot more of the day. SIGN. ME. UP!! It’s surprising how often couples miss out on this so I was so happy that they were so determined to slow down and appreciate everyone. They elected to do their main couple shoot the morning after their wedding  (after less than two hours sleep!) at the actual Victoria Falls at sunrise – and they spent their golden hour of the wedding on a sunset cruise with everyone else. One of my favourite parts of the day was the mindful moments immediately after the ceremony when parents, siblings and bridal party came together to share hugs and a few happy tears over a celebratory glass of champagne. This was so special – everyone needs to do more of this! The ceremony, beautifully done by Matt Mbanga was full of laughter, guitars and Greg and his sister Shona even serenaded Jordyn and the guests.

After family photos we did sneak away for a super-quick couple shoot amongst the Ilala palms of their wedding ceremony.  Even though their official couple shoot was the next day, I’m a huge fan of couples taking a few moments alone together – its hugely important for catching up on your day and each other and I can’t recommend it enough. And if sometimes I can take my photos at the same time – how wonderful! After that it was time for the cruise! The Zambezi River, friends and family from all around the world, drinks and canapés – what more could you ask for?

And then a wonderful fairy-lit evening on the banks of the Zambezi with beautiful speeches, crazy dancing and a festive amalgamation of Zimbabwe (Jordyn) meets South Africa (Greg) and all the merry folk from London to Dubai and more.
