These two have skills. Not only did they plan a Zimbabwean wedding from Australia but they planned it so well that they even produced a beautiful baby girl for it so that their family would be able to get in some very special Piper-time over the course of the wedding period. Family and friends flew in from all over the world to celebrate this gorgeous little family in a very laid back destination wedding beautifully put together on the shores of Lake Kariba at Spurwing Island Lodge.
There’s something very special about Kariba light in August. The balmy feel of it all day long: soft and light, almost wispy. Stacey and Piet said their vows with the waves of the lake lapping behind them and we couldn’t have asked for it to be more typically Kariba than it was for Stacey and Piet’s island couple shoot… The stillness of the water broken only by the soft surfacing of a trio of hippos, one lazy crocodile eyeing the shoreline meanderings of the wedding party. Reed cormorants grumpy and huffing at the brief intrusion, the strident peeps of a watchful white-crowned lapwing. After that it was time for joining the rest of the wedding party for drinks, dining and dancing in the a fairy-lit reception area where the party certainly didn’t quieten with age.
Stacey and Piet thank you so much for choosing me to document your gorgeous Zimbabwean celebration. I really loved meeting the two of you and all of your people. And thank you for being such a pleasure to work with. xx
